BOE to supply AMOLEDs for Apple's iPhones
A new report from China suggests that BOE finally managed to enter Apple's supply chain for its iPhone devices. Only last month it was reported that BOE did not pass Apple's OLED quality test.
According to the report BOE will start supplying AMOLED displays to Apple before the end of 2020. In 2021, BOE will ship 10 million AMOLED displays to Apple. LGD will supply 40 million panels while Samsung will supply 130 million panels.
Visionox OLED updates
China-based OLED maker Visionox announced that it lighted up its 6-Gen flexible OLED production line in Hefei, Anhui, China. The company held a ceremony on December 7th.
Visionox's new production line (its second 6-Gen line) will have a monthly capacity of 30,000 1500x1850 mm substrates, similar to the company's first line in Hebei. Total investment in the new production line will be $6.3 billion.
Visionox recently announced that demand for its AMOLED displays is on the rise, while demand for LCD displays (which Visionox does not produce) is down in China.
According to reports, Visionox also started production at its M4 flexible OLED module line in Guangzhou.

According to ETNews, Apple reached out to both LG Display and Samsung Display for these OLEDs, which will adopt a new OLED design.
LG Electronics announced that it is partnering with door solutions developer Assa Abloy Entrance Systems to commercialize automatic sliding doors with transparent OLED panels.
Samsung announced a First Look 2021 event that will take place on January 6th 2021, during which the company will introduce its latest products, technologies and visions for the future of the display.
Idemitsu Kosan announced that it has achieved full-scale production of OLED materials at its new factory in Chengdu. Material shipments from the new fab will commence in January 2021.
Notion Systems, MBraun and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research (Fraunhofer IAP) are co-developing new inkjet production technologies, aimed for the display market - specifically for OLED, QD and microdisplays
