LG Electronics starts selling its 2023 OLED TVs in the US
LG Electronics announced that it will begin to take pre-orders for its 2023 OLED TV range in a few days, and some of the TVs will begin shipping later this month. The company also announced the pricing of its new TVs.
Prices start at $1,399 for the 42-inch OLED C3 TV, the 65" OLED G3 will cost $3,299 while the 65" OLED C3will cost $2,599. LG will continue to sell some of its 2022 models, and also the $100,000 65" rollable TV.
Buick announces a new electric car with a 30-inch 6K OLED display
Buick announced a new electric vehicle in China, the Electra E5, based on General Motors' Ultium architecture. The new crossover offers a curved 30" 6K OLED display.
Buick did not release a lot of information on the new car, and we do not know whether it will be available in China only, or will also be released globally. The car will start shipping by the end of 2023.
Wisechip demonstrates a new miniature PMOLED-based near-eye display
Wisechip has unveiled a new miniature near-eye display module that is based on a small PMOLED display. The company says that this cost-effective solution offers high-contrast and low-power, and can be used for rapid development and applications that only require a simple information display.
The display module combines a 0.19" monochrome (white) PMOLED display, and a small optical system. Wisechip says that the whole module can work up to 20 hours powered by a 70mAh lithium battery.
Reports from Korea suggest that BOE is facing technical challenges as it struggles to become an OLED supplier for Apple's iPhone 15
According to reports from Korea, BOE is developing smartphone OLED displays for Apple's iPhone 15 range, but it is facing technical hurdles.

Specifically, the iPhone 15 design has a camera (and FaceID sensors) punch-hole inside the OLED, and BOE's panel suffer from light leakage from the OLED into the camera hole area.
DSSC sees the foldable OLED smartphone market growing 45% in 2023, with over 35 new models
DSSC says that more smartphone makers will join the foldable phone market in 2023, with 37 new models introduced (up from 19 in 2022) - including new models from Google and OnePlus. DSSC says at least 16 new clamshell phones will be released, at least 20 in-folding type and one new out-folding device.
Looking at foldable smartphone shipments, DSSC says that the market will grow 45% to reach 18.6 million units, as performance increases and price decreases.
