LG installs 32 transparent OLED displays at Korea's Incheon airport to show Korea's virant culture

LG Display announced a new transparent OLED campaign at Incheon Airport, to show Korea's vibrant culture to travelers from all over the world, and experience Korea's four seasons and folktales.

The installation includes several different displays. One is large wall made from 18 55" OLED displays, a large video wall that "conveys the delicate patterns and colorful hues of Korean traditional folktales while also creating a comfortable openness thanks to its high transparency". Theere are also a total of 14 transparent displays attached to pillars and walls inside Incheon Airport's Tourist Center, utilized to showcase various information such as local times and global weather conditions as well as welcome messages and enchanting videos showing off the "endless beauty of Korean nature".

Sigmaintell: production of OLED smartphone displays in China to jump 40% in 2023

Most analysts seem to agree that global demand for OLED displays is set to slow down in 2023. DSCC says that revenues will decrease 7% in 2023, led by a drop in demand for OLED smartphone and TV displays. Omdia also agrees, saying that OLED fab utilization remains low.

China-based Sigmaintaell, meanwhile, is optimistic on China's own OLED industry, expecting production to jump 40% in 2023. Sigmaintell says that Chinese phone makers are increasing their adoption of OLED displays in high-end and mid-range models. The company's analysts expect over 220 million Chinese OLED panels to ship in 2023, and China's OLED market share to rise to 38%, up from 28% in 2021.

OLED material maker Hyperions files for an IPO

China-based Hyperions, a developer of HTL, HIL, ETL and EIL OLED materials, has filed for an IPO.  The company is now going through financial inspection towards the IPO which will should happen before the end of 2023.

According to the comapny's IPO prospectus, Hyperions has been profitable since 2020. The company's income was around $43 million USD in 2022, up from $30 million in 2021 and $27 million in 2020. The company's net profit was $12 million in 2022, up from $6.6 million in 2021 and $7.3 million in 2020.

Omdia: Apple to switch to OLED displays in almost all of its tablets, laptops and monitors by 2027

Omdia released its latest IT OLED display forecasts, with some interesting projections. 

The company sees very nice growth ahead for OLED displays in the IT market, with shipments rising from around 9.7 million units in 2022 to over 70 million units in 2028. Most of the growth will co`me from adoption in laptops, but tablet adoption will also increase sharply.
