JOLED files for bankruptcy, Japan Display to take over assets
A report from Japan updates that JOLED , the OLED inkjet printing pioneer established in 2014, has filed for bankruptcy. The company has been struggling financially for a long time, and will now close down its two production lines and lay off 280 employees (out of 380), as it could not raise funds and has liabilities of around $257 million.
According to the report, display maker Japan Display will take over JOLED technology and remaining operations.
Omdia: Samsung's market share by small-size AMOLED shipments us at 56%
Omdia says that small-size (under 9") AMOLED display shipments dropped 6% in 2022 to 762 million units, due to lower demand for smartphones.
Samsung remains the leading AMOLED maker, with a 56% market share (by unit), down from 61% in 2021, with BOE in the second plane (12%) and LG Display in the third place (11%). The next producers by shipments are Visionox and Everdisplay.
Wisechip announces its second TADF/HF PMOLED device
PMOLED display maker Wisechip has launched its second TADF/HF OLED display, a 5.5" 256x64 yellow PMOLED device. The company says that by using Kyulux's Hyperfluoresence™ OLED technology it offers double the brightness compared to its standard OLEDs.
Wisechip is the first and only company to commercialize TADF/HF device. The company's first device was launched in 2020, a 2.7" yellow PMOLED.
