New OLED gadget: Oppo A95

The Oppo A95 smartphone features a 6.43" 1080x2400 800 nits AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, a microSDXC card slot and a triple camera setup.

TCL shows a 14-inch inkjet-printed rollable OLED display

Yesterday we reported that during its DTC 2021 conference, TCL demonstrated a 65" inkjet-printed 8K OLED panel co-developed by TCL's CSoT and JOLED. During the conference, the company also unveiled another panel a rollable OLED.

This is a 14" inkjet printed OLED panel, produced using an inkjet printing process. TCL says that it has a rolling radius of <20 mm, and has been tested for up to 100,000 cycles. The panel include a built-in AI-powered compensation algorithm (we don't have more info on that). The display has been developed by CSoT in collaboration with JOLED.

Samsung Electronics to unveil its first QD-OLED TVs at CES 2022

Reports from Korea say that Samsung Electronics plan to reveal its first QD-OLED TV at CES 2022 (5-8, January, 2022). The company hopes the new OLED TV technology (produced by Samsung Display) will enable it to compete with LG in the premium OLED TV market.

This was already reported back in July 2021, when it was said Samsung's first TVs will be 55" and 65" in size, with 70-inch panels arriving later in 2022.

New OLED gadget: Huawei MateBook E

The Huawei MateBook E is a convertible Windows 11 laptop that features a 12.6" 2600x1600 OLED display, Intel 11th-Gen i5/i7 chipset, Iris Xe graphics and up to 16BG of RAM.

The MateBook E starts at around $950 in China, it is not clear whether Huawei will launch it in other regions.

Omdia: LG Electronics OLED TV shipments grew 80% in Q3 2020

Omdia says that in Q3 2021 LG Electronics have passed the 10 million OLED TV shipments, since it started shipping OLED TVs in 2013. It took LGE seven years to sell its first 5 million TVs, and only 2 more years to sell the next give.

In Q3 2021 LGE sold (according to Omdia) almost 900,000 OLED TVs, a 80% growth over Q3 2020. The total OLED TV market grew to 1.53 million in Q3, and Omdia expects it to pass the 2 million units market in Q4. LGE holds a 60% market share of the OLED TV market.

Samsung Display launches new OLED website, shows new Flex OLED branding

Samsung Display launched a new web site dedicated to its OLED technologies, that shows the properties and applications of its OLED displays, and includes lot's of media and links that explains the benefit of OLED technology, how it works, etc.

Sidtek's 0.39" FHD OLED microdisplays are now available on the OLED marketplace

China-based Sidtek is a relatively newcomer to the OLED microdisplay industry, having been established in 2016. The company started to produce its first product in 2020, a 0.39" 1024x768 panel.
