Sony demonstrates a 4K OLED microdisplay prototype
During Sony's Technology Day, the company unveiled a new VR headset prototype based on a new 4K OLED microdisplay panel, which was unveiled for the first time.
Sony reports that the new microdisplay features very low latency, with a response time of <0.01 seconds. The prototype display utilizes a white OLED with color-filters architecture.
Solas OLED files a lawsuit against Nintendo and SDC, for OLED patent infringement
Ireland-based OLED IP company Solas OLED announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Nintendo and Samsung Display in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.

Solas says that the Nintendo Switch OLED infringes four of Solas’ U.S. patents: 7,499,042; 7,573,068; 7,868,880; and 7,663,615 that relate to the 7-inch OLED display, produced by SDC.
New OLED gadget: LG OLED evo Objet Collection TV
LG's OLED evo Objet Collection TV is a premium OLED TV, that sports a moving cover, which can be adjusted via a remote control. The TV was designed in collaboration with Danish premium textile brand Kvadrat.

The idea, it seems, is that one can cover a part of the screen when you don't want to watch parts of the image - for example during violent or cruel scenes.
LG says that it will start shipping the new TV on December 15th.
3D Micromac appoints Marko Gerlach as CFO
Germany-based laser micromachining and roll-to-roll laser system developer 3D Micromac announced that Marko Gerlach will become the company's CFO, effective immediately. The previous interim CFO, Frank Jäger, will remain with 3D-Micromac AG for a period of time to help ensure a smooth transition before leaving the company.

Marko Gerlach began his professional career in tax consulting and auditing. For approximately 10 years, he provided services to small- and medium-sized companies in the fields of annual audits, management consulting and all tax matters. Since 2009, Marko Gerlach has held various management positions within the Jenoptik Group.
New OLED gadget: Motorola Edge X30
Motorola's Edge X30 smartphone features a 6.7-inch 144Hz HDR10+ 1080x2400 AMOLED display, a Snapdragon SM8450 chipset, 8/12 GB of RAM, 128/256 GB of storage and a triple camera setup.

The Edge X30 will ship by the end of 2021, starting at around $450.
LG Display and EyeSafe release a blue-light whitepaper
Blue light management expert Eyesafe, togethe with LG Display, published a white paper that examines the major display technologies for television, including LCD and OLED, and their potential influence on eye health and circadian rhythm. Exposure to blue light affects sleep cycles by suppressing levels of melatonin in the brain.

One of the benefits of OLED TV is its naturally low blue light emissions as compared to those of traditional LCD TVs on the market. "Even while maintaining perfect black and high contrast characteristics with excellent picture quality, OLED provides the user with better eye comfort and viewing experience".
New OLED gadget: LM Tokyo ELLDE
LM Tokyo's first OLED TV, the ELLDE, offer 43-, 48-, 55- and 65-inch 4K WOLED panels, ambient lighting and tempered glass casing.

The ELLDE is now shipping in Japan, starting at ¥99,800 (around $880) for the 43-inch model.
LG supports the Smithsonian's FUTURES exhibition with OLED technologies
In celebration of the Smithsonian’s 175th anniversary, America's oldest national museum is holding a new exhibition, called FUTURES, which aims to present a hopeful future with four concepts: Futures that Unite, Futures that Inspire, Futures that Work, and Futures Past.

LG Display is supporting this exhibition with several OLED panels. There will be 55-inch FHD transparent OLED displays, a 83-inch OLED that will show a documentary series called Futures We Dream, and a couple of 48-inch OLED panels that demonstrate the delicate value of life on Earth.
