Radleys offers universal reactor workstations to graphene chemists
The following is a sponsored message by Radleys
UK-based manufacturer of productivity tools for Chemists Radleys is offering a universal reactor work station that is specifically attractive to Graphene chemists. The Reactor-Ready is a single reactor framework accommodating a range of vessel sizes which allows to save money and fumehood space. The easy-to-use Reactor-Ready systems offer vessels which are interchangeable in minutes, allowing cost effective scale-up from 100 ml to 5 L batches, without the significant investment associated with multiple traditional jacketed reactor systems.
When used in conjunction with AVA lab control software, Reactor-Ready offers many advantages to the process development and production of graphene:
- Safe, controlled additions with temperature feedback control loop. Automate liquid additions with set safety limits to temporarily halt additions as the reactor temperature rises, and resume once a safe value is reached. Safely control exothermic reactions, with temperature feedback and active cooling.
- Improve reproducibility and consistency. Easily run, record and repeat experiments. Share experiments and results between users to facilitate collaboration.
- Improve safety. Use Safe Settings to add alarms, shutdown and safe ‘go-to value’ setpoints.
- Improve productivity. Run unattended chemistry 24 hours a day with automated data logging. Set temperature control steps and ramps of any length.
When a research group at Imperial College London wanted to scale up graphene production, they chose Reactor-Ready and AVA software to enable careful temperature control of an exothermic reaction and controlled liquid additions. The researchers at ICL could originally only produce small quantities of graphene, using a small round bottomed flask - with no temperature control. When they needed to synthesise larger amounts of graphene for testing, they acquired a Reactor-Ready Duo linked to a Huber 405 thermoregulator and a peristaltic pump and balance. AVA Software Level 4 was supplied to control the set-up and enable automatic gravimetric additions to be made. This allowed the group to safely scale-up the production of graphene keeping the temperature under control while safely making controlled liquid additions.
