LG shows a 272" 8K microLED MAGNIT TV, also shares a nice installation video of its launch event in India
LG Business Solutions launched its MAGNIT MicroLED TVs in India, and the company shared a nice launch-event video showing the first installation in India for the event:
LG's latest microLED TVs are the LSAD series, for which the main size is a 136-inch 4K display. The TVs offer 2000-nits and 120Hz, and are powered by LG's latest Alpha 9 AI-enhanced processor and the company's own webOS smart TV platform.
The MicroLED Handbook, 2023 edition
MicroLED-Info is happy to announce the 2023 edition of The MicroLED Handbook. This book is a comprehensive guide to MicroLED display technology, industry and market. MicroLED displays are thin, efficient, bright and flexible and are on track to revolutionize the display industry. The handbook is now updated to January 2023 and lists recent developments and new companies, initiatives, products and research activities.
Reading this book, you'll learn all about:
- MicroLED technology, materials and production processes
- How MicroLEDs compare to LCDs and OLEDs
- What are the challenges towards commercial production
- LED technology and manufacturing processes
- MicroLED driving and full-color architectures
- The MicroLED displays currently on the market
The book also provides: The book also provides: an in-depth guide to MicroLED Microdisplays, potential applications of MicroLED displays, a comprehensive list of MicroLED companies, an introduction to other emerging display technologies (such as quantum dots and OLEDs), a current overview of the MicroLED market, market and industry forecasts and much more!
ClassOne received a follow-on order for its gold electroplating system from a leading microLED maker
ClassOne Technology, a developer of advanced electroplating and wet processing tools for microelectronics manufacturing, says that it has received a follow-on order for its Solstice GoldPro gold electroplating system from a leading microLED maker with global manufacturing sites.
The new system will be used at the customer’s new manufacturing site in Asia for high-volume production of next-generation microLEDs deployed in a range of end applications.
Researchers develop the world's highest density and smallest microLED arrays, using 2D material based transfer
Researchers from the US and Korea, led by MIT, developed full-color vertically-stacked microLEDs that achieve the highest array density (5100 PPI) and the smallest size (4 µm) reported to date.
To end up with such high resolution and small microLED chip size, the researchers used a 2D materials based layer transfer (2DLT) technique. The resulting microLEDs, that have near-submicron thickness, are grown on 2D material-coated substrates, removed, and then stacked.
Mojo Vision details its microLED microdisplay technology
Last month AR developer Mojo Vision announced that as it finds it challenging to raise more funds, it is changing its focus to develop its microLED display technology, and canceling its smart contact lens system R&D project.
A couple of years ago, Mojo Vision announced that it has developed a 14,000 PPI monochrome (green) microLED microdisplay, that is the world's highest density microdisplay. The company now updated its website, which says that its technology can reach up to 28,000 PPI.
MicroLED production yields – and strategies to overcome
The MicroLED Industry Association published today a new white paper, that is focused on MicroLED production yields. This whitepaper discusses microLED yields, the current status, challenges ahead and several strategies and technologies that should help to mitigate the yield problem. Together with the white paper, the association is also hosting an open webinar.
Yield is an important parameter for display makers, as low yields can drastically increase production costs per panel sold. In the microLED industry, yields are even more crucial and are still a major challenge. In addition, as microLED production involves several separate steps, the yield discussion is more complex compared to the situation in LCD or OLED production.
The white paper is published on the MicroLED Association's website, and is open to the public.
ams OSRAM qualified Aixtron's 200 mm microLED production systems
Aixtron announced today that ams OSRAM has qualified Aixtron's AIX G5+ C and G10-AsP MOCVD systems on 200mm wafers for a Micro LED production.
ams Osram will be using Aixtron's systmes at its upcoming 200 mm mass production line in Malaysia, which is expected to begin production in 2024.
