Mojo Vision announces its latest Mojo Lens prototype
AR developer Mojo Vision announced that it has developed a new prototype of its innovative Mojo Lens display system, which is an AR-powered contact lens based display.

The display part of this system is still based on a 14,000 PPI monochrome (green) microLED microdisplay, which is less than 0.5 mm in diameter.
ALD passivation found to increase the efficiency of microLEDs, and improve QD color conversion technology
Researchers from the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) in Taiwan have found that by applying ALD Al2O3 passivation, it is possible to increase the external quantum efficiency of microLED chips.

The EQE of 5x5 um microLEDs was enhanced by 70%, and the EQE of 10x10 um chips was enhanced by 60%. The ALD passivation technology was also successfully used for the patterning of color-conversion QDs by inkjet printing (the passivation is used to prevent the quantum dots from photo-oxidation and degradation).
ams OSRAM to expand its LED production plant in Malaysia, will be used to produce microLEDs on 8-inch wafers
ams Osram announced that it will expand its LED production plant in Kulim, Malaysia, with an investment of around $850 million.

The new fab will produce LED chips and microLED chips, on 8-inch wafers. ams Osram regards microLED as one of its key initiatives, but also sees the market a few years away.
Enkris launches GaN-on-Si microLED epiwafers on 300 mm wafers
China-based GaN epiwafer producer Enkris Semiconductor launched new microLED epiwafers. The "Full Color GaN" series offers GaN-on-Si microLED epiwafers, with wafers sizes of up to 300 mm.

Enkris' new epiwafers offers blue, red and green LED arrays, all based on the same material platform. Enkris Semiconductor uses its patented strain engineering and polarization engineering, which it says is unique, to expand its GaN-on-Si LED epiwafer product portfolio to all colors (with wavelengths of 390-650nm).
