JBD partners with tooz to develop microLED powered prescription waveguides

JBD announced a partnership with tooz to combine curved waveguide including prescription with a color microLED display engine.

The two companies say that combining these two technologies enable sharp, full-color virtual screens, in a slim and stylish for factor, while fulfilling individual vision correction. The two companies will demonstrate a first prototype next week.

TrendForce: the market for microLED chips in large-area displays will reach $4.5 billion by 2026

Market research company TrendForce estimates that the market for microLED chips used in large-area displays will grow from $54 million in 2022 to $4.5 billion in 2026, a CAGR of 204%. The market will continue to grow and by 2030 TrendForce sees revenues of tens of billions of dollars.

There are still obstacles to overcome - technical challenges in both backplane technologies, transfer technologies and driving technologies, and the high cost of the microLED chips themselves.

Mojo Vision raises a further $45 million, partners with sports brands to show AR potential

AR developer Mojo Vision announced that it has raised $45 million in its Series B-1 round, which brings its total funding to $205 million. Investors in this new round include Amazon Alexa Fund, PTC, Edge Investments and HiJoJo Partners.

Mojo Vision also announced that it has partnered with several leading sports brands, including Adidas, Wearable X, Trailforks, Slopes and 18Birdies. Together with these companies, Mojo "showcased at CES 2022 the potential role an effectively eye-mounted display could play in the lives of professional athletes".
